Jakarta, Indonesia – Huawei is set to launch its latest premium foldable phone, the Mate X7, in Indonesia on March 5, 2026, promising advancements in design, durability, performance, and photography. The device aims to provide a versatile, immersive, and portable experience for users seeking a multi-functional smartphone.

The Mate X7 builds upon Huawei’s existing Mate X series, known for its innovations in foldable display technology. The company is emphasizing significant improvements to the phone’s physical resilience, a more streamlined design, and an overhauled camera system. Huawei claims the Mate X7 was developed through a high-precision engineering approach, resulting in a robust and reliable device without compromising aesthetics or user comfort.

A key feature of the Huawei Mate X7 is its internal display structure, utilizing a 3-layer Composite Ultra-Tough technology. Huawei states this technology increases the screen’s resistance to bending by 100% compared to previous generations, addressing a key concern for foldable phone users – screen vulnerability. The Mate X7 is likewise claimed to be 20% more resistant to impacts, offering additional protection against accidental damage.

For the outer screen, Huawei is employing Ultra Durable Crystal Armour Kunlun Glass, which the company says offers scratch resistance up to 16 times better and drop resistance up to 25 times better than standard glass. This comprehensive protection aims to give users peace of mind during everyday use.

Beyond screen durability, Huawei has also focused on improving the phone’s hinge. The Mate X7 utilizes a zero-contact hinge design to reduce pressure during folding, potentially extending the hinge’s lifespan and ensuring smooth operation. This is paired with Ultra-High Strength Steel 3.0, boasting a strength of up to 2350 MPa, and an aviation-grade aluminum frame with a 37% increase in strength. These material choices contribute to the Mate X7’s overall structural integrity.

The Mate X7 also carries both IP58 and IP59 certifications, indicating water resistance up to 2 meters, as well as resistance to high-pressure water jets and temperatures up to 80 degrees Celsius. Huawei has also included a Wet Touch feature, allowing the screen to remain responsive even when wet. This level of ruggedization is increasingly vital as smartphones become integral to outdoor activities.

Enhanced Camera Capabilities

Huawei is also highlighting improvements to the Mate X7’s camera system. The company states it has increased color accuracy by 43% in complex lighting conditions through its True-to-Color Camera system. The phone also features 17.5 EV Cinematic Ultra HDR, an adjustable aperture, and a LOFIC sensor. These technologies combine to deliver a 21-fold increase in dynamic range compared to the previous generation, enabling richer detail and more accurate colors even in challenging lighting scenarios.

Zoom and close-up detail capabilities have also been significantly improved. The Mate X7 is equipped with a 50MP Macro Telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and a focusing distance of up to 12 cm. Huawei has also incorporated AI Remove and AI Best Expression features, utilizing artificial intelligence to remove unwanted objects from photos or select the best expression from a series of shots.

Specifications and Availability

Huawei has begun taking pre-orders for the Mate X7 as of March 5th, with a promotional period running through April 4, 2026, offering deals worth up to Rp13.1 million, including cashbacks and wearable device bonuses.

Based on the China launch, the Huawei Mate X7 features a slimmer body than its predecessor. When folded, it measures 9.5mm thick and shrinks to 4.5mm when unfolded. It also weighs 235 grams, 4 grams lighter than the Mate X6.

The device includes two OLED LTPO panels. The front screen measures 6.49 inches with a resolution of 2444 x 1080 pixels. When unfolded, users gain access to an 8-inch main display with a resolution of 2416 x 2210 pixels, a refresh rate of 1 to 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 2,500 nits.

Impressive Camera Configuration

The Mate X7 boasts a 50MP main camera with an RYYB sensor, OIS support, and an adjustable aperture, alongside a 40MP ultrawide lens. The telephoto camera has been upgraded to 50MP with 3.5x optical zoom and an f/2.2 aperture. For selfies, there are dual 8MP cameras, one on the front screen and one on the main display.

High Performance with Kirin 9030 Pro

Under the hood, the Huawei Mate X7 is powered by the flagship Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. The phone is equipped with a 5,600 mAh silicon carbon battery, supporting 66W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

The Mate X7 runs HarmonyOS 6 and supports satellite connectivity. It is available in Black, White, Purple, and Red color options in China.

The Huawei Mate X7 represents a premium foldable smartphone offering a unique combination of innovative design, high durability, powerful performance, and exceptional photography capabilities. With significant improvements over previous generations, the Mate X7 is poised to compete in the growing Indonesian foldable phone market. Full details, including official pricing and availability, will be revealed at the official launch on March 5, 2026.
