The anticipation for a new installment in the F-Zero franchise continues among fans, though Nintendo has yet to announce a new title. Despite the lack of official news, 2026 could still prove to be a strong year for fans of the anti-gravity racing genre.
First, Star Wars: Racer is slated for release this year. Now, Japanese developer Meiden has announced Hypersonic GP, a new racer that clearly draws inspiration from F-Zero in both its overall presentation and hovercraft design. According to a press release, the game will feature:
“Step into a dystopian world and challenge gravity-defying tracks where speed is both your greatest ally and deadliest enemy. Inspired by the anime aesthetics of the 90s and classic anti-gravity games, Hypersonic GP throws you into the cockpit of one of 32 legendary ships, challenging you to reach the podium at supersonic speeds.”
Currently, Hypersonic GP has only been announced for a PC release, though developers hope to bring the game to consoles in the future. The first trailer can be viewed below.
