Indonesia’s Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa announced a budget deficit of Rp 135.7 trillion (approximately $8.6 billion USD) for February 2026. This figure represents 0.53% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The budget deficit indicates that government spending exceeded revenue during the period. Through February 28, 2026, total state revenue reached Rp 358 trillion, while state expenditure totaled Rp 493.8 trillion.
“Tax collection in the first two months of 2026 grew by 30%. We will ensure this trend remains stable going forward,” Purbaya stated during a press conference at the Ministry of Finance in Central Jakarta on Friday, March 6, 2026.

A breakdown of the revenue shows Rp 245.1 trillion came from tax revenue, Rp 44.9 trillion from customs and excise and Rp 68 trillion from non-tax state revenue (PNBP).
Government spending of Rp 493.8 trillion was allocated with Rp 346.1 trillion going to central government expenditure and Rp 147.7 trillion transferred to regional governments.
“We will ensure that all factors supporting economic growth continue to perform well,” Purbaya added.
