Iran Declares Victory in US Conflict but Warns of Readiness for Prolonged Struggle
Iran has officially declared victory following a period of intense military confrontation with the United States, claiming the U.S. Suffered an undeniable and devastating defeat. Although, despite the celebratory rhetoric, Iranian military leadership continues to signal that the nation remains on a high state of alert and is prepared for a protracted war if necessary.
On April 8, 2026, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council issued a statement congratulating the Iranian people on the victory. According to reports, the council emphasized that the U.S. Has committed to ceasing further military operations and has recognized Iran’s continuous control over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
The announcement comes after 29 days of strikes. Iranian state-affiliated media, including the Fars News Agency, provided an assessment of the engagement, claiming that the 84th wave of strikes resulted in the destruction of a U.S. P-8 “Poseidon” reconnaissance aircraft stationed in Bahrain. The agency further alleged that multiple U.S. KC-135 refueling tankers were destroyed and that American personnel were killed during the operations.
Even as the government projects an image of triumph, the domestic atmosphere remains tense. Reports indicate that while the administration claims victory, the public remains in panic amid the instability.
The military’s stance remains aggressive despite the diplomatic claims of a resolution. A military advisor to the Supreme Leader confirmed that the nation is ready for a long-term conflict, while another high-ranking official warned that the Iranian armed forces’ fingers are still on the trigger.
