أعلن الجيش الإسرائيلي السبت، أن العملية العسكرية التي نفذتها قوة في شرق لبنان كان هدفها استعادة رفات الطيار رون آراد.
كان المقدّم رون آراد المولود عام 1958 ملاحاً في سلاح الجو الإسرائيلي. سقطت طائرته خلال المشاركة في قصف جوي على الجنوب في 16 أكتوبر/ تشرين الأول عام 1986. ووقع في الأسر لدى “حركة أمل” في لبنان، حسب ما أعلنه الجيش الإسرائيلي الذي تمكن من إنقاذ الطيار المرافق له آنذاك.
بعد عام، عرضت حركة أمل مبادلته بـ200 لبناني و450 فلسطينياً في السجون الإسرائيلية. وأفادت التقارير حينها أن المحادثات بشأن التبادل فشلت بسبب رفض إسرائيل الإفراج عن الفلسطينيين.
انقطعت أخبار آراد بعد ذلك، وتضاربت الأنباء بشأن تاريخ وفاته.
في عام 2016، توصلت المعلومات التي جمعها جهاز الموساد والمخابرات العسكرية الإسرائيلية إلى أن آراد مات في الأسر عام 1988 على الأغلب.
وقال المتحدث باسم الجيش الإسرائيلي أفيخاي أدرعي، إن الجيش لم يعثر على أي دلائل تتعلق بآراد خلال عملية النبي شيت مساء الجمعة.
Israeli Operation in Lebanon Aimed at Recovering Remains of Missing Pilot
An Israeli military operation conducted in eastern Lebanon on Friday night and Saturday sought to locate the remains of Ron Arad, an Israeli air force pilot missing since 1986. The operation, which involved a commando force entering Lebanese territory, underscores the enduring sensitivity of the case and ongoing regional tensions.
According to the Israeli military, Arad, born in 1958, was a navigator in the Israeli Air Force. His aircraft was shot down during an aerial bombardment of southern Lebanon on October 16, 1986. He was subsequently taken captive by the Lebanese militant group, “Amal,” while his fellow pilot was rescued, the Israeli army stated.
One year after his capture, Amal reportedly offered to exchange Arad for 200 Lebanese prisoners and 450 Palestinians held in Israeli jails. Reports at the time indicated that negotiations for the exchange failed due to Israel’s refusal to release the Palestinian prisoners.
Information regarding Arad’s fate subsequently ceased, with conflicting reports emerging over the years concerning the date of his death. In 2016, intelligence gathered by Israel’s Mossad and military intelligence led to the assessment that Arad likely died in captivity in 1988.
Despite the recent operation focused on the area near Nabi Sheet, Israeli military spokesperson Avichai Adrei stated that no evidence related to Arad was found during the operation on Friday evening. The continued search for Arad highlights the long-standing commitment to resolving the fate of missing Israeli soldiers and citizens.
