Police have arrested three teenagers in connection with an acid attack on a student in Central Jakarta. The incident occurred on Jalan Cempaka Raya in Cempaka Putih Barat.
“Yes, they have been arrested,” said AKBP Roby Heri Saputra, head of the criminal investigation unit at the Central Jakarta Metro Police, when contacted on Monday, February 9, 2026.

Roby stated that two of the suspects are minors. The case is now being handled by the Women and Children Protection Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police.
“Two are under the age of 18,” he said.
The incident gained attention after a video circulated on social media on Sunday, February 8, 2026, as reported by detikcom. The footage shows three students on a motorcycle stopping briefly before continuing their journey.
As they passed a group of three other students riding on a motorcycle in the opposite direction, the suspects allegedly swerved and sprayed liquid from a bottle at the oncoming riders.
The liquid struck one of the students. The three suspects then continued riding away from the scene.
“Basically, these three were riding together on a motorcycle, and then they passed three other teenagers. They sprayed them,” Roby said on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Police reported that one of the victims suffered an eye injury and received medical treatment. He has since been discharged and is now at home.
“He is currently at home. He was briefly hospitalized yesterday, but has since returned home,” Roby added.
