Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates – Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak, has reopened to visitors as of January 31, 2026, following a temporary closure due to heavy rainfall and subsequent road damage. The reopening marks a return to normalcy for the popular tourist destination, which had been inaccessible following flash floods in late December 2025.

Authorities swiftly completed repair work after the inclement weather caused disruptions to pathways and roads on the mountain, leading to the temporary suspension of access. Manorama Online reported that the closure was a precautionary measure to ensure visitor safety.

The reopening comes as a relief to adventure seekers who had been anticipating the opportunity to enjoy the cooler temperatures at Jebel Jais. Previously, unusually warm weather had similarly limited access to the mountain, frustrating tourists. Madhyamam detailed the anticipation surrounding the reopening.

Jebel Jais offers a range of attractions, including the Jais Flight – the longest zip line in the world – and the Jais Sledder. Packages are available, with options including dining vouchers. Mathrubhumi reported that a package including the Jais Flight, Jais Sledder, and a 100 dirham dining voucher is available for 499 dirhams.

Recent reports indicate that permits are no longer required for entry to Jebel Jais. Deshabhimani and Samayam Malayalam both reported the removal of entry permit requirements.

The resumption of access to Jebel Jais is expected to boost tourism in the region, offering visitors a chance to experience the unique landscape and adventure activities. The development underscores the UAE’s commitment to providing diverse tourism options and ensuring the safety of visitors.
