Jennifer Lopez Credits Ben Affleck’s Role in ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ Amid Divorce
Jennifer Lopez publicly acknowledged Ben Affleck’s crucial contribution to her upcoming film, “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” during an interview today, despite finalizing their divorce earlier this year.
Appearing on the Today show, Lopez was questioned by co-host Craig Melvin about the timing of the divorce coinciding with the film’s production. Lopez responded with a playful, “Look at this guy!” before praising Affleck’s involvement. “If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have gotten made,” she stated, adding, “And I will always give him that credit.” The film’s production reportedly provided a creative outlet during a difficult personal time for the actress.
Melvin initially prompted the discussion by noting Affleck is an executive producer on the project. Lopez further explained that the film’s themes of escapism resonated with her own experience, stating, “It’s funny, the movie is about escapism…doing this project really got me through to kind of survive a moment that was difficult in my personal life.” The couple, who rekindled their relationship in 2021 after an initial engagement in 2002, married in July 2022 before filing for divorce in 2024.
Lopez emphasized her desire to move forward, adding, “Things happen, you have to keep going.” The film is slated for release later this year, and its success could significantly impact Lopez’s career trajectory, potentially solidifying her status as a multi-talented performer.
