Jerry Jones Receives Praise for Acting Debut in “Landman”
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, 83, has earned accolades for his recent guest appearance on the television series “Landman,” where he portrayed himself in an episode released in January.
Jones delivered emotional dialogue centered on family and his business philosophy, prompting positive reviews from the show’s star, Billy Bob Thornton. “Now, I’m not saying I’ve done anything right, but I made my mind up a long time ago I was gonna work with my kids,” Jones said on the show, as transcribed by USA Today. “And they’re involved in everything… when I got the Cowboys, I got it so that we could all work together.”
Thornton lauded Jones’ natural acting ability during Monday’s “Manningcast,” noting that Jones was essentially recounting his own life story. “If you just ask somebody, sit down and tell it — he got teared up,” Thornton said. “He was very, very good. If you can get a non-actor to be themselves, they’re better than actors.” This unexpected turn for the longtime NFL executive highlights a different side of the public figure.
Despite the positive reception of his acting debut, Jones’ Cowboys suffered a 44-24 loss to the Denver Broncos yesterday and will next face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9. You can find more information about the Dallas Cowboys schedule and team updates on their official website.
Team officials have not commented on Jones’ future acting endeavors, but the episode continues to generate discussion among fans of both the show and the NFL.
