BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – Former Córdoba Governor Juan Schiaretti, recently elected to Argentina’s national Chamber of Deputies, will undergo heart surgery this Friday, November 28, at the Favaloro Foundation in buenos Aires. The 76-year-old Peronist leader announced the scheduled procedure-a minimally invasive aortic valve replacement-via social media, citing a medical proposal ahead of his upcoming swearing-in. The surgery highlights the delicate balance between public service and personal health for Argentinian politicians as they navigate transitions in office.
Former Córdoba Governor Juan Schiaretti is scheduled to undergo heart surgery this Friday at a clinic in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The procedure will replace his aortic valve using a catheterization technique, Schiaretti announced on social media. The upcoming surgery for the recently elected national deputy comes as he prepares to take office.
“This Friday, November 28, I will undergo heart surgery consisting of the replacement of the aortic valve through catheterization. The procedure was scheduled on medical recommendation and will be performed at the Favaloro Foundation in the city of Buenos Aires,” Schiaretti wrote Monday on his X account.
The 76-year-old Peronist leader concluded his term as governor of Córdoba province in 2023, after which he campaigned for his successor, Martín Llaryora.
Schiaretti was elected to the national Chamber of Deputies in October’s legislative elections as part of the Provincias Unidas coalition.
Following the operation, Schiaretti will remain under observation. He is expected to be able to attend the congressional ceremony to be sworn in as a national deputy after his recovery.

Por recomendación médica, el procedimiento fue programado y se realizará en la Fundación Favaloro de la ciudad de Buenos Aires.— Juan Schiaretti (@JSchiaretti) November 24, 2025
The procedure, known as TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation), is a minimally invasive treatment for aortic stenosis, a condition where the aortic heart valve narrows.
“TAVI is the treatment for severe aortic stenosis that allows the aortic valve to be replaced without opening the chest and without the need for extracorporeal circulation, as happens in conventional surgery,” the Favaloro Foundation stated.
