Kerala is bracing for continued rainfall and potential disruptions as weather alerts remain in effect across several districts. The ongoing spring rains, while typical for this time of year, are prompting officials to monitor conditions closely and advise residents to take precautions.

As of Friday, May 1, 2026, a yellow alert has been issued for four districts, signaling the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall. Mathrubhumi reports that this alert is expected to remain in place for at least two more days, with seven districts under a similar warning today.

The India Meteorological Department has also indicated the potential for thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall in several areas. Manorama Online notes that conditions could include wind speeds reaching up to 50 kilometers per hour (approximately 31 miles per hour) through Sunday.

More localized warnings were issued earlier today, with an orange alert specifically for the Malappuram and Kozhikode districts, indicating the likelihood of heavy rainfall. Deshabhimani detailed that these alerts were in effect for the next three hours.

Alongside the rainfall, several districts are also experiencing warm temperatures, creating a combination of conditions that require vigilance. Manorama News reports that four districts are currently under a yellow alert for both heat and rain.

The state continues to experience the effects of the spring monsoon season and authorities are urging residents to stay informed about the latest weather updates. These alerts underscore the importance of preparedness as Kerala navigates this period of fluctuating weather conditions.
