Nitra has claimed the Tipsport Liga hockey championship, completing a stunning comeback to defeat HC Slovan Bratislava 4-3 in a decisive Game 7 that went to overtime on April 30, 2026.
The dramatic victory secures a third title for HK Nitra in Slovakia’s top hockey league. After dropping the first three games of the series, Nitra faced a daunting 3-1 deficit, but rallied to force a seventh and final game.
The championship was sealed by a goal from 18-year-old Tomáš Chrenko in overtime. The game itself was a back-and-forth affair, with Nitra taking an early lead through Stacha in the 15th minute. Slovan responded with a goal from Takáč, tying the game before the first period ended.
