Harsh Week of Attacks Leaves Kharkiv Region Reeling

Russian forces bombarded the Kharkiv region for a week straight, targeting at least 42 settlements, including the city of Kharkiv, according to Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration. The sustained attacks underscore the ongoing intensity of the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

Eighteen people were injured in the strikes, including a 10-year-old girl, and one person was killed. A separate incident claimed the life of another man who was killed after detonating an unknown device.

Synegubov reported that the attacks involved four missiles, 14 guided aerial bombs, 41 Shahed-type drones, two Lancet drones, 12 “Molniya” drones, 10 FPV drones, and an additional 50 drones whose type is still being determined.

Kharkiv Targeted in Three Drone Attacks Last Week

The city of Kharkiv was directly targeted in three drone attacks over the past week, according to Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov. The attacks involved two “Molniya” drones, with the type of a third drone still under investigation. No injuries or deaths were reported as a result of the strikes.

Terekhov said the most recent attack hit an administrative building belonging to a city council department, damaging the roof. Repairs are underway. Prior to that, the city’s situational center recorded another impact on the ground, causing no damage or injuries.

Air raid sirens sounded for nearly 44 hours in Kharkiv last week – 54% less than across the wider region.

“I urge all Kharkiv residents to be vigilant and not ignore potential danger when an air threat warning is announced,” Terekhov said.

Over 30 Drones Launched at Kharkiv Region Overnight

Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported this morning that no casualties were reported in overnight attacks. Eleven settlements in the Kharkiv region were targeted.

“In the village of Mirne, Shevchenkivska community, a 75-year-old man died after detonating an unknown device,” Synegubov said.

The weaponry used in the attacks included:

  • three guided aerial bombs;
  • three Shahed-type drones;
  • two Lancet drones;
  • six “Molniya” drones;
  • two FPV drones;
  • 21 drones (type is being determined).

Power lines and a cargo truck were damaged in the Bohodukhiv district, while a civilian enterprise was hit in the Kupiansk district. Damage was also reported to apartment windows, a car, and farm buildings in the Izium district, and to a private home in the Chuhuiv district.

Russian Forces Drop Bomb, Launch 14 Assaults: General Staff Update

In its morning briefing on December 15, the Ukrainian General Staff informed the public that 14 clashes occurred in the Kharkiv region over the past 24 hours.

On the Southern-Slobozhansky direction, Russian forces attacked 11 times near Volchansk and Synelnykove. On the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled three Russian assaults near Petropavlivka and Peschane.

“In total, 158 combat engagements were recorded yesterday. The enemy launched 66 air strikes on Ukrainian units and settlements, using five missiles and dropping 166 guided bombs. They also carried out 4,286 artillery attacks, including 133 from multiple launch rocket systems, and deployed 6,447 kamikaze drones,” the General Staff stated.

Russian forces also dropped an aerial bomb on the settlement of Baranivka in the Kharkiv region, according to the report.

Fire Damages Home, Woman Treated for Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

The Kharkiv region’s State Emergency Service reported 13 fires across the region over the past 24 hours, with two sparked by Russian shelling. A fire broke out in an apartment in the Saltivka district yesterday morning. A 24-year-old woman was treated for carbon monoxide poisoning but refused hospitalization.

A separate fire damaged the engine compartment of a car in Lozova. The vehicle owner, a 55-year-old man, sustained burns to his hands but also declined hospital treatment.

In the Kupiansk district, a 70-year-old man died after detonating an unknown explosive device in the village of Mirne.

Drones Flew, Air Bomb Threat Loomed: How the Night Unfolded in Kharkiv and Region

An air raid alert was issued in Kharkiv yesterday at 6:30 p.m. local time, as Ukraine’s Air Force reported a potential threat of drone attacks. The drones circled the region for about an hour before heading towards Kharkiv.

After midnight, the immediate threat to Kharkiv and the region subsided. However, the all-clear was not given. At 3:29 a.m., guided aerial bombs posed a threat to the Donetsk region, according to Ukrainian defenders. Later, Russian drones began attacking the Dnipropetrovsk region. The all-clear was given at 4:06 a.m. As of 7:20 a.m., conditions in Kharkiv and the region were quiet.
