Tennessee Lady Vols Dominate Columbus State in Exhibition Match

The Tennessee Lady Volunteers defeated the Columbus State Cougars 98-62 in an exhibition game held yesterday at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The Lady Vols showcased a strong offensive performance, led by guard Mia Pauldo, who contributed multiple three-point baskets throughout the game. Tennessee’s aggressive defense also proved effective, consistently disrupting Columbus State’s offensive flow. The exhibition served as a valuable tune-up for Tennessee ahead of their regular season opener on November 10th against Eastern Kentucky.

Tennessee coach Kim Caldwell was visibly engaged on the sidelines, frequently communicating with players and making adjustments. The team demonstrated a collaborative spirit, with multiple players contributing to the scoring effort. This game allowed Caldwell to assess her team’s readiness and identify areas for improvement before facing tougher competition in the NCAA Women’s Basketball season.

Columbus State coach Matt Houser also spent considerable time directing his team, but ultimately, the Lady Vols’ size and speed proved too much to overcome. The exhibition provided Columbus State with an opportunity to compete against a Power Five opponent and gain valuable experience. Following the game, Coach Caldwell stated the team will focus on refining their execution in preparation for the upcoming season, according to reports from the arena.

The Lady Vols will continue preparations for their November 10th season opener, while Columbus State returns to their schedule of Division II competition.
