“KPop Demon Hunters” Soundtrack Certified Platinum After Chart Dominance

The soundtrack for the animated hit “KPop Demon Hunters” was certified platinum yesterday, marking another milestone for the globally popular film and its music.

Singing stars EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, who voice characters in the film and perform as the group Huntr/x, appeared on “The Tonight Show” Tuesday where host Jimmy Fallon delivered the news. The soundtrack logged a second non-consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, earning 102,000 equivalent album units with 117 million on-demand official streams. The film, released on June 20, quickly became Netflix’s most-watched movie of all time, surpassing “Red Notice” with over 236 million views – a testament to the growing global appetite for K-pop influenced content.

The lead single, “Golden,” made history in September, spending five consecutive weeks at the top of the Hot 100, the longest run for a song by an animated act in the chart’s history. Four tracks from “KPop Demon Hunters” landed in the Hot 100’s top ten, including “Your Idol” at No. 4, “Soda Pop” at No. 5, and “How It’s Done” at No. 8. Huntr/x also performed an abbreviated version of “Golden” alongside Bad Bunny on Saturday Night Live on October 4, with Bad Bunny portraying a superfan of the fictional group. Representatives for the artists have not yet announced further plans for the soundtrack, but anticipate continued success as the film maintains its popularity on streaming platforms.
