For generations of Czech viewers, the holiday film Krakonoš and the Skiers has been a beloved tradition. But what became of the young actors who starred alongside karel Heřmánek in the 1980s classic? A new report from film portal ČSFD details the divergent paths taken by the film’s child stars, from fading from public view to continued success within the Czech entertainment industry and, in one case, relocation abroad.
The beloved Czech film classic *Krakonoš and the Skiers* remains a holiday staple for many. But what happened to the child stars who appeared alongside Karel Heřmánek? Some have largely disappeared from public view, while others found success in the Czech entertainment industry, and one even moved abroad, according to film portal ČSFD.
Krakonoš and the Skiers is a perennial favorite, especially during the holiday season. The film largely featured young actors alongside Karel Heřmánek, many of whom have since moved on from acting.
Out of Sight, Out of Mind
Milan Padalík appeared only in this film, yet he became a memorable part of children’s cinema in the 1980s. He played the role of Jenda Pelc in the movie, as noted by ČSFD. Actress Vanda Krňanská also faded from the spotlight after *Krakonoš and the Skiers*, and information about her current life and career remains unknown.
However, other actors from the film have thrived in the Czech entertainment scene. Jan Kreidl, who played Matěj, first appeared in *Pumpaři od Zlaté podkovy*. He then landed a role in *Krakonoš and the Skiers*, launching his film career. He later appeared in the series *Létající Čestmír* as David Pelc. In 1985, he starred in *S čerty nejsou žerty* as the little devil Kokeš, a film that became one of the most beloved Czech fairy tales, according to Kinobox.
One Actor Moved Abroad
Viktor Král began appearing in films at a young age. In the 1980s, he took on several child roles, debuting in 1980’s *Muž přes palubu*. He then starred in *Krakonoš and the Skiers* and *Sonáta pro zrzku*. These roles opened doors for him in the world of cinema, and in 1983 he landed one of his most successful roles in the sci-fi series *Návštěvníci*. He stopped acting after 1986 to study at the Czech Technical University. He currently lives abroad with his partner and two children.
