“La Famille” Brings Dysfunctional Family Dynamics to Stages Across France
Patrick Timsit and François-Xavier Demaison are set to star in “La Famille,” a new play written and directed by Samuel Benchetrit, exploring the complexities of familial relationships. The production is currently touring France, bringing its blend of humor and heartache to audiences nationwide.
The play centers around a family—father, mother, and two estranged brothers, Max and Jérôme, along with Jérôme’s wife, Alice—who are forced to reunite for a life-altering event. According to promotional materials, the evening promises “surprises between incomprehension, laughter and love.”
Performances are scheduled for March 5, 2026, at Le Zénith de Pau, with tickets available for purchase online. Information regarding the Pau performance can be found here. Ticket prices range from €28 to €52, with options for wheelchair access also available directly through the Zenith. The event is a co-organization between PAU PYRENEES EVENEMENTS / ZENITH PAU and LA VILLE DE PAU.
Joining Timsit and Demaison on stage are Claire Nadeau, Jackie Berroyer, and Kate Moran. The creative team includes Emmanuelle Roy (décor), Charlotte Betaillole (costumes), and Laurent Béal (lighting).
The play has already garnered attention, with François-Xavier Demaison recently discussing the importance of family during a performance in Marseille. “La famille c’est très important,” Demaison said, as reported by La Provence.
“La Famille” also has scheduled performances at the Zénith de Caen in Normandy, as detailed here, and at the Théâtre de l’Odéon in Marseille and the Théâtre du CADO in Orléans, described as a “jubilatoire” piece by Destimed.
The production is poised to resonate with audiences as it taps into universal themes of family, connection, and the often-complicated bonds that tie us together.
