Heavy rainfall in North Sumatra province has triggered a landslide in Tapanuli Utara (Taput), further disrupting access to the area.

The latest landslide has completely blocked a section of road at Kilometer 38 in Parsikaman Village, Adian Koting District, rendering it impassable, according to reports.

The landslide has also impacted traffic along the surrounding Trans-Sumatra highway, forcing motorists to wait for authorities to clear the debris.

“Traffic will resume once the evacuation of the landslide material is complete,” Walintukan stated.

Authorities are utilizing drones to assess the extent of the damage and monitor the unstable terrain.
The aerial surveillance confirms that the road is currently inaccessible.

“A drone team has been deployed to conduct a visual assessment of the completely blocked and impassable section of the road,” he explained.
