Modern Exhibition, Rok-raksts, Opens March 25th

Starting March 25th, the Decorative Arts and Design Museum (Skārņu iela 10) is launching a new pop-up exhibition series, Spektrs, in collaboration with the Jewelry Art Association. The series will showcase current trends in Latvian jewelry art. The inaugural exhibition, Rok-raksts, will be on display until May 31st, with three additional exhibitions planned throughout the year. The exhibit offers a look into the operate of Una Mikuda, Anna Fanigina, Māris Šustiņš, Gunta Lauders, Valdis Brožs, and other jewelry artists, highlighting each creator’s individual style through diverse materials, and techniques.

Concert Lineup:Ar mani atkal runā… Ilze! and Remix’s Pilsēta, Starting March 27th

Beginning March 27th, the National Theatre’s Grand Hall will host Ar mani atkal runā… Ilze!, a humorous concert celebrating Theatre Day. Audiences can expect to see familiar characters, including Ilze, a worldly woman, and Smuidris, a champion of folk traditions, who share their opinions on current events in a radio-style format. The show is created by Mārtiņš Egliens and Marta Elīna Martinsone, alongside comedian Rūdolfs Kugrēns. The cast includes Maija Doveika, Marija Bērziņa, Egils Melbārdis, Raimonds Celms, and Egons Dombrovskis, among others.

The legendary group Remix will too be performing their musical program Pilsēta in several cities. The show features both instrumental pieces that have stood the test of time and the group’s greatest hits in new arrangements. Uldis Marhilevičs, Igo, and Aivars Hermanis will be joined by the Latvian Radio Big Band. Arrangements for the concert were created by Viktors Ritovs, the pianist for the Radio Big Band. Concerts are scheduled for Ogre, Rēzekne, Riga at the VEF Culture Palace, and Ventspils this spring.

March 28th: Patiesais kailums and Likteņzīmes Featuring Ojārs Vācietis

The criminal comedy Patiesais kailums will premiere on March 28th at the Ādaži Culture Center, blending suspense with humor and unexpected twists. The story centers on a prominent lawyer who wakes up naked next to a colleague, with no recollection of how it happened. Attempts to save his reputation quickly devolve into a series of comical misunderstandings. The production is directed by Intars RešetinsPētersons, who also stars, alongside Inga Alsiņa-Lasmane or Marika Šmukste, Jānis Āmanis, and Elīna Bojarkina. Additional performances are scheduled for April in Riga at the VEF Culture Palace, Sigulda, and Ulbroka.

The third season of the literary and musical concert cycle Likteņzīmes will begin on March 28th at the Likteņdārza saieta namas in Koknese. This season will feature Vizma Belševica, Ārija Elksnis, Leonas Briedis, and others. The first concert, dedicated to the poet Ojārs Vācietis, will include performances by Vilis Daudziņš, Zane Daudziņa, Aija Andrejeva, and Jānis Aišpurs.

March 30th: Ja skatuves dēļi sāktu runāt Benefit Concert

The National Theatre will host a charity concert, Ja skatuves dēļi sāktu runāt, on March 30th. The event aims to support actors and directors who have dedicated their lives to the stage. Actors from all Latvian theaters will come together to celebrate their love for theater, colleagues, audiences, and life. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to veteran theater artists, and an attractive charity auction will be held featuring handmade crafts and culinary creations by actors and directors. The concert is directed by Marija Bērziņa.
