The pair, celebrated for their decades-long partnership, walked the blue carpet alongside othre Lithuanian stars dressed in “creative glam” attire. Their evening included reflections on their enduring popularity and a nostalgic look back at the unique connection they once shared with fans in the early days of Lithuanian radio.
A flurry of stars hit the blue carpet ahead of the awards ceremony, showcasing looks inspired by a “creative glam” dress code.
Among them was the beloved radio duo Livija Gradauskienė and Asta Stašaitytė, known to listeners as “Between Us, Girls.”
The energetic pair spoke with reporters about their evening’s attire and shared some memorable stories from their time working together.
“We wore whatever they gave us, and we’re absolutely thrilled with it. We just hope they don’t take it back! My dress is already refusing to close, so I probably won’t be returning it. I can’t even run in it, it won’t fasten,” Livija joked.
“You won’t outrun them in heels anyway,” Asta quipped. “As far as I know, my outfit is from a collection sent over from a designer abroad. M1 and stylist Milda took care of everything. We feel pampered and very glamorous.”
When asked how it felt to be reunited, the duo responded without hesitation: “Like yesterday.”
“I woke up calm, like any other morning – sports, hot water. Then it hit me – Asta, you need to realize this is happening! And then I started thinking about how to get my adrenaline going.
Then I thought, ‘Žalgirio Arena! I’ve never spoken at Žalgirio Arena before.’ It all gave me such a pleasant excitement,” Asta explained.
The conversation also revealed stories from their early days working together, memories that still resonate with them today.
“We’re a radio duo that has stood the test of time. We started by appearing in person for fans, initially in stores. Back then, radio didn’t have cameras, so people would just come to see us.
One time on Gedimino Avenue, we celebrated so much that everyone showed up – from the then-mayor of Vilnius to members of the underground scene, some of whom we were a little intimidated by.
But we were brave, so everything worked out,” Livija recounted. The duo’s early success highlights a time when radio personalities enjoyed a more direct connection with their audience.
“Even the prime minister or the city mayor would come to congratulate us. It’s hard to imagine now that a mayor or prime minister would come to celebrate a radio show’s birthday,” Asta added.
“When I had my first daughter, the mayor came to congratulate me and brought flowers,” Livija shared.
“Today’s stars might envy the follower counts or fees, the luxury cars or villas, but we can be envied for the fact that people would show up with bouquets of flowers, uninvited, just to see us. High-ranking officials would come just to make sure we didn’t mention them on air,” Asta explained.
“It was almost like a bribe,” Livija added with a smile.
