Loïc Lantoine & Marc Nammour: Portraits of Life & Hopeful Disquiet

Two acclaimed French artists, a songwriter and a rapper, have joined forces, bringing together distinct styles and a shared sense of unease about the state of the world. The collaboration highlights a growing trend of cross-genre partnerships in contemporary music.

One is a celebrated songwriter from northern France, known for his spirited lyrics inspired by the poetry of Allain Leprest. The other is a rapper from Montreuil, delivering incisive verses with a clear flow, formerly the leader of the group La Canaille and a member of Zone libre alongside guitarist Serge Teyssot-Gay, and similarly a frequent performer on the theatrical stage.

Though their backgrounds and artistic approaches differ, both artists share a powerful use of language, a love for striking imagery, and a penchant for contrast. They also share a common concern: a world drifting off course and impacting lives, even as moments of happiness and hope emerge.

11 Portraits, 11 Glimpses into Life

Loïc Lantoine and Marc Nammour previously combined their talents five years ago in Fiers et tremblants, a poetic and musical project where they explored their creative connection – Lantoine through spoken-word performance and Nammour through his incisive rap. This time, the duo has created 11 portraits, 11 snapshots of life, and 11 glimpses into individual experiences, all captured on a new album.
