As the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) heads into its weekend contests, teams are navigating a series of roster adjustments impacting on-field lineups. Friday saw a handful of transactions, including the return of key players from the 7-day restricted list and corresponding moves to maintain competitive balance. Among the most anticipated developments is the reinstatement of Major League veteran Rougned Odor to the Navegantes del Magallanes, bolstering their lineup as they compete in the league’s ongoing season.

The Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) saw a flurry of roster moves heading into the weekend, with five transactions impacting team lineups.

Three players were reinstated from the 7-day restricted list on Friday, while two others were added to it. Most notably, Rougned Odor made a highly anticipated return to the field.

Odor’s activation came at the expense of reliever Ángel Acevedo, who has been a reliable arm out of the bullpen, posting a 2-0 record with a 3.32 ERA in nine appearances.

Acevedo will be required to remain inactive for at least a week on the restricted list, mirroring the wait recently completed by three other Venezuelan players.

The Caribes now have pitcher Enderjer Sifontes (12.27 ERA in 6 games) available, as do the Magallanes with outfielder Jorge Burgos (8-1 as a gardener). Both players are prospects who have experience in the MLB system. Sifontes is still very young, having only pitched as high as Rookie ball with the Los Angeles Angels, while Burgos has reached Double-A with the Cleveland Guardians.

Damiano Palmegiani’s return appears less likely. The versatile infielder has been granted permission by the Cardenales to travel to the United States. Lara’s sports manager, José Yépez, told El Emergente that Palmegiani could return if needed, but his return isn’t currently scheduled.

Palmegiani leaves with a .274/.370/.435 slash line through his first 16 games in the LVBP.

LVBP TRANSACTIONS

  • Margarita has added pitcher José Quijada to their weekly roster, replacing pitcher Mauricio Véliz.
  • Mauricio Véliz has been placed on the 7-day restricted list and is eligible to return to Margarita’s roster on November 8.
