Following the mixed team competition, Polish ski jumper Pola Bełtowska has been the target of intense criticism.

Poland’s national ski jumping coach, Maciej Maciusiak, has come to the defense of Bełtowska, revealing he has been receiving abusive messages since the start of the winter season. This comes after a strong training session from Kamil Stoch on Thursday, details of which can be found here.

Bełtowska struggled in the mixed team event at the 2026 Winter Olympics, but the backlash she received quickly escalated into outright hostility. Her teammates voiced their support, and now Maciusiak has also spoken out against the abuse.

– “There’s a task for everyone, including journalists, to focus on supporting Pola and highlighting these negative situations. Sometimes we mention it briefly, but then the hate returns, and it’s a constant cycle. It hurts us. Personally, I prefer not to comment on it, given that it’s often not worth giving these people any attention,” Maciusiak told Sport.pl.

Maciusiak also disclosed that he himself has been the recipient of hateful comments, primarily directed to his social media accounts, where he rarely checks his spam folder.

– “Someone wrote to me: ‘mountain prostitute.’ And there were many more messages from that person. I don’t check constantly, but I sometimes observe that the number of haters is increasing,” he stated.

– “We’ve developed a certain resilience, as we’ve been in this position for years. But glance at Kacper, who is now receiving a lot of praise. We’re already developing strategies to protect him and everyone else. We will definitely try to stop this, as he is a young, Olympic medalist, and our job is to shield him from these kinds of voices. We understand that form will inevitably dip, and when it does, these inappropriate comments will likely surface. We’re still figuring out how to address this, but we’re committed to supporting each other and bringing these situations to light,” he concluded.

Another training session on the large hill in Predazzo is scheduled for Friday, beginning at 6:30 PM.
