The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed forward Samuel Blais on waivers, the team announced Wednesday afternoon.

Blais was initially claimed off waivers by the Maple Leafs on October 6, after signing a contract with the Montreal Canadiens earlier in the offseason. This move comes as teams navigate roster decisions early in the NHL season.

The Quebec native has appeared in eight games for Toronto this season, registering one goal and two assists. He recorded both points in a single game on October 29th.

Blais is currently on a one-year contract with a salary of $775,000.

Over 265 NHL games with the St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers, and the Maple Leafs, Blais has tallied 28 goals and 74 points.

Last season, the Montmagny native played in the American Hockey League with the Abbotsford Canucks, where he excelled with 14 goals and 40 points in 51 games, ultimately winning the Calder Cup.
