The Vaud cantonal committee of the Centre party has reaffirmed its support for Valérie Dittli amid growing scrutiny over her conduct, a move that comes as a commission report alleges attempts to interfere with its findings.

The Commission de gestion du Grand Conseil (COGES) released its annual report on Wednesday, criticizing Dittli for presenting “alternative truths” and attempting to influence the report’s content. According to the report, Dittli sought to modify certain facts or remarks, offering justifications or evidence that were never provided. “These attempts at interference concern a desire to modify certain facts or remarks, to oppose them by invoking justifications or evidence that ultimately never reach us, in short, to impose a narrative,” COGES President Oriane Sarrasin explained.

Sarrasin emphasized that this behavior is unique among members of the government. “This practice does not exist with the other members of the government. She is the only minister who acts like this,” she stated.

While Sarrasin refrained from using the term “lies” – which was previously used by the Council of State following the Meylan report – she acknowledged facing “contradictory versions, incomplete or vague information.” The commission instead characterized the issues as “alternative truths.”

The Centre Vaud is now requesting that Dittli clarify her intentions by this summer, signaling a desire for resolution amidst the ongoing controversy. This request underscores the increasing pressure on the minister to address the allegations and restore confidence.

The COGES report also highlighted a turbulent 2025 for the canton of Vaud, citing the Dittli affair, the Studer report, fiscal shield issues, the Paychère report, internal dysfunctions, budgetary tensions, and the resignation of Rebecca Ruiz as contributing factors. The report suggests that the institutions have experienced “strong turbulence” during this period.

The situation highlights the challenges facing the Vaud government and the importance of transparency and accountability in public office.
