Marekas Blaževičius Returns to Žalgiris

Lithuanian basketball player Marekas Blaževičius is returning to Žalgiris Kaunas for the upcoming season, according to multiple Lithuanian sports news outlets.

The 24-year-old center, who previously played for Žalgiris from 2020 to 2022, has agreed to terms with the EuroLeague club, reports confirmed on April 17, 2026. Blaževičius will take on a reserve center role with the team as they prepare for the next phase of EuroLeague competition.

During the current season, Blaževičius has been playing for Bursa Tofaş in Turkey, where he has averaged 14.9 points, 7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in the Turkish Basketball Super League. In FIBA Champions League play, he has averaged 15.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game, along with a 14.6 performance index rating.

His performance in both leagues has been described as solid, with consistent scoring and rebounding contributions. Blaževičius likewise spent time playing in Spain and with the Vilnius Wolves before his stint in Turkey.

Žalgiris Kaunas is set to face Paris Basketball in an upcoming EuroLeague game on Friday, April 17, 2026, as they continue their campaign in the tournament.
