Blue Jays Defeat Mariners in Game 7, Advance to World Series

The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Seattle Mariners 4-3 yesterday in a dramatic Game 7 of the American League Championship Series, securing their place in the World Series for the first time since 1993.

The Mariners, eight outs away from their first-ever World Series appearance, saw their hopes dashed by a three-run home run from George Springer in the seventh inning. Seattle had taken an early lead with a first-inning run scored by Julio Rodríguez and added to it with home runs from Rodríguez and Cal Raleigh in the third and fifth innings, respectively. The Mariners’ postseason run ends a 23-year drought since their last AL West title.

Seattle manager Dan Wilson defended his decision to bring in Eduard Bazardo to face Springer, stating, “You make your decisions, and sometimes you have to live and die with it. The way Bazardo has thrown the ball all season long, we were comfortable with where we were. It just didn’t go our way.” Despite the loss, Wilson expressed confidence in the team’s future, noting, “All of us now have had a taste of how close we can get and how good this team can be.” You can find more information about the MLB Postseason on the official MLB website.

The Mariners failed to score in the final four innings, ending the game with strikeouts from Leo Rivas, Dominic Canzone, and Rodríguez. “I hate to use the word failure, but it’s a failure,” said Seattle star Cal Raleigh. “What we expected was to get to the World Series and win a World Series.” The Blue Jays will now face the National League champions in the World Series, beginning next week.
