Marte Mjøs Persen, a former Norwegian government minister, is transitioning to the private sector, taking on a communications role with a public affairs firm.
Persen will join Rud Pedersen Public Affairs, the consultancy firm announced. She will be providing strategic advice on political processes and government relations.
“I look forward to opening a new chapter in my life,” Persen said in a press release.
The former minister will assist clients with “strategic advice within political processes and government contact,” the firm stated.
Persen has served as an elected official at the local and national levels for 23 years.
During the first term of the Støre government, she served as Minister of Petroleum and Energy before becoming Minister of Labour and Social Inclusion.
Persen is also known for her six years as mayor of Bergen and her leadership of the Labour Party in Vestland county.
She will hold the title of “associate director.”
“Throughout a long political career, I have had the pleasure of collaborating with and finding solutions across party lines. I believe this will be valuable as a consultant in a historically fragmented political landscape,” Persen said in the press release.
The move comes as a number of former politicians have recently transitioned to the public relations industry.
Former ministers Tina Bru, Anette Trettebergstuen, and Ingvild Kjerkol have all recently made similar moves.
