Florida State’s Darrell Jackson Jr. Ranked Among Top 2026 NFL Draft Prospects

Florida State Seminoles defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. is currently ranked as the No. 48 overall prospect for the 2026 NFL Draft, according to a recent evaluation by The Athletic, bolstering the program’s reputation for developing NFL-caliber defensive talent.

The redshirt senior, a local product who grew up attending games at Doak S. Campbell Stadium, currently starts at defensive tackle for the Seminoles and has recorded 29 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack through nine games this season. The Athletic’s Dane Brugler highlighted Jackson’s unique physical attributes, noting, “It is not easy to find 6-foot-5, 340-pound athletes with 35-inch arms, 11-inch hands and burst to close — which is why Jackson makes the cut for the top 50.”

Head coach Mike Norvell praised Jackson’s dedication and growth, stating on Wednesday, “I’m so proud of him… he’s really playing at a high level and I’m just grateful for his passion, his care for this university.” Norvell also emphasized Jackson’s impact beyond statistics, explaining that opponents often require “four, sometimes six hands on him, to try to neutralize him.” Florida State has become a consistent producer of NFL defensive linemen, sending six to the league over the past five drafts, including recent selections like Jared Verse and Braden Fiske. You can find more information about the Seminoles’ recent draft success on the NFL’s official draft page.

Jackson Jr. and other Florida State seniors will be honored before Saturday’s home game against Virginia Tech. Norvell expressed confidence in Jackson’s future, stating, “He’s going to be an incredible representative of what it is to be a Seminole, and he’s going to be a great pro.” NoleGameday will continue to provide coverage of the Seminoles throughout the remainder of the season.
