Bills Coach McDermott Backs Offensive Coordinator Brady After Dolphins Loss

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott affirmed his support for offensive coordinator Joe Brady and the offensive staff today, following a decisive 30-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins yesterday.

McDermott stated he is “fully confident” in Brady and the team’s offensive approach, despite a struggling performance that saw the Bills held scoreless through the first three quarters. “Joe’s a good coach. He really is… It’s how you respond to them and I’m fully confident in our offensive staff, and Joe as our leader, that we will make the adjustments we need to make and move us forward,” McDermott said during a press conference. The Bills’ offensive woes come at a critical juncture as they vie for playoff positioning in a competitive AFC.

The team’s quarterback, Josh Allen, faced significant pressure, averaging a 3.53 second time to throw – his longest since Week 15 of 2018, according to NextGen Stats. Brady acknowledged he would have favored passing plays earlier in the game, noting the offense was more efficient through the air. A hamstring injury to tight end Dalton Kincaid during the second half further hampered the Bills’ comeback attempt, and he is expected to be sidelined on a week-to-week basis. In addition to the offensive struggles, rookie defensive end Landon Jackson will miss this week’s game with a knee injury, and defensive line coach Marcus West was hospitalized after Sunday’s game but has since been discharged and is reportedly doing well. McDermott confirmed he is not considering reaching out to recently fired New York Giants coach Brian Daboll, who previously served as Buffalo’s offensive coordinator.

The Bills (6-3) will look to rebound next Sunday when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
