Megadeth to Release Final Album in 2026, Shares New Single “I Don’t Care”
Megadeth will release its final studio album in January 2026 and has announced a new single, “I Don’t Care,” set to debut online this Friday, November 14, marking a significant moment for fans of the thrash metal pioneers.
“I Don’t Care” is the second single from the self-titled Megadeth album, which will be released via Tradecraft, the imprint of bandleader Dave Mustaine, on Frontiers Label Group’s BLKIIBLK label on January 23, 2026. The track listing includes songs like “Tipping Point” and “Hey, God?!” as well as a bonus cover of Metallica’s “Ride The Lightning.” The band recently played its first live performance of the first single, “Tipping Point,” on October 14 at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Netherlands, while touring as support for Disturbed.
Mustaine expressed some initial nervousness about debuting “Tipping Point” live, stating, “I was a little nervous about playing it because we hadn’t played it live yet. And I always get a little nervous whenever we play a song for the first time. But it went off without a hitch and the fans really liked it.” He added that the enthusiastic response from fans prompted them to add the song to their setlist sooner than planned. Megadeth’s influence on the thrash metal scene, alongside bands like Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, has cemented their legacy in music history. More information about the band’s history can be found on their official website megadeth.com.
In August, Mustaine announced the upcoming album would be the band’s last, followed by a farewell tour in 2026. “We’ve made a lot of friends over the years and I hope to see all of you on our global farewell tour,” Mustaine said in a press release. The band is currently working with producer Chris Rakestraw, who also worked on their previous albums, “The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!” and “Dystopia.”
Megadeth’s current lineup includes Mustaine, guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, drummer Dirk Verbeuren, and bassist James LoMenzo, and the band plans to continue touring and celebrating their career through 2026.
