Ozzy Osbourne Honored with All-Star Tribute on Headbangers Boat Cruise
A star-studded tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away on July 22nd from a heart attack complicated by coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease, took place aboard the 2025 Headbangers Boat cruise, which concluded yesterday.
Members of bands including Lamb of God, Fear Factory, Crowbar, DevilDriver, Obituary, and Nekrogoblikon participated in a 10-song performance honoring the late Black Sabbath vocalist during the cruise, which sailed from Miami, Mexico, and returned on November 4th. Just over four months prior to his death, Osbourne reunited with the original Black Sabbath lineup for a final charity concert in Birmingham, United Kingdom, a performance widely considered a landmark event in heavy metal history.
The “Back To The Beginning” concert featured Osbourne performing five songs with his solo band – including “Crazy Train” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home” – before being joined by Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for Sabbath classics like “War Pigs” and “Iron Man.” During that performance, Osbourne, seated on a throne, expressed his gratitude to the crowd, stating, “You have no idea how I feel. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” A private funeral service for Osbourne was held on July 31st in Buckinghamshire, England, attended by 110 friends and family, including fellow musicians like Rob Zombie and Corey Taylor. You can learn more about Parkinson’s disease from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
Thousands of fans also gathered in Birmingham the day before the funeral to publicly mourn Osbourne’s passing, and were joined by his family. Authorities have not announced any further memorial plans at this time.
