Moioli Secures Bronze in Snowboard Cross at Milano Cortina 2026
Michela Moioli added to her impressive Olympic medal collection Friday, securing a bronze medal in the snowboard cross event at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. This marks the Italian athlete’s third consecutive Olympic podium finish, following gold in PyeongChang 2018 and silver in Beijing 2022.
The 30-year-aged from Alzano Lombardo advanced to the final after dominating her earlier heats, consistently leading in the eighths, quarterfinals, and semifinals. In the final, a challenging start left her battling from behind, ultimately resulting in a third-place finish. Josie Baff took gold, and Eva Adamczykova claimed silver.
Moioli’s journey to the podium wasn’t without its challenges, as she had been dealing with some physical issues leading up to the Games. However, her determination to compete on home soil proved strong. The bronze medal solidifies her status as Italy’s most decorated snowboard cross athlete.
Described as a “primordial agonist” by Italy’s technical director Cesare Pisoni, Moioli is known for her aggressive riding style and exceptional speed through turns. She competed with the experience gained from her Olympic debut at Sochi 2014 and a career tally of two Olympic medals and seven world championship medals.
Training frequently in Livigno, where the snowboard competitions are held, Moioli benefited from familiarity with the course and enthusiastic support from the local crowd. The Italian athlete’s performance adds another highlight to the ongoing Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
Moioli began her competitive career at a young age, joining the elite ranks at 16 and making her World Cup debut at 17.
