Who is Fátima Bosch, Mexico’s Representative at Miss Universe 2025?

Fátima Bosch Fernández was born in Tabasco, and is the daughter of Bernardo Bosch Hernández (an advisor at Pemex) and Vanessa Fernández Balboa (sister of Mónica Fernández Balboa, a Mexican politician who heads the Institute to Return Stolen Goods to the People).

The young contestant studied Fashion Design at the Iberoamericana University and later expanded her education at international institutions: the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan and the Lyndon Institute of Vermont.

Fátima shared in an interview with Telereportaje (July 2025) that her academic journey was marked by difficulties stemming from her neurodiversity (ADHD, dyslexia, and hyperactivity) and that she faced bullying during her childhood.

Bosch, who won the Flor Tabasco contest in 2018, revealed that her first invitation to participate in Miss Universe Mexico came in 2019, but she decided not to pursue it to finish her studies.

She later agreed to re-enter the competition after identifying with the direction the new administration was taking, focusing on empowering women.

Controversies Surrounding Fátima Bosch

In September, Bosch was crowned Miss Universe Mexico 2025 at the Conjunto Santander de Artes Escénicas in Zapopan, in an atmosphere of tension backstage, as only four contestants – from Tlaxcala, Tamaulipas, Yucatán, and Veracruz – approached to congratulate her. The winner noted that she didn’t see solidarity from several of her competitors.

Several contestants criticized her win, including Camila Canto (Miss Puebla), who said in a video, “For me, the girl shouldn’t have won (…) That thought of mine is 100 percent respectable, respect it, everyone thinks and feels what they want.”

Subsequently, during the initial Miss Universe activities in Thailand, the Mexican delegate was confronted by Nawat Itsaragrisil, who called her “stupid” for not promoting certain content on her social media.

In response, Bosch firmly stated: “No one can silence our voice,” and declared she would not tolerate insults. The moment went viral, generating solidarity from other contestants, such as Hanin Al Qoreishy, Miss Iraq.

Despite everything, Fátima decided to continue in the competition and has become a favorite among the public.
