The People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) has deactivated the master of ceremonies and the judging panel of its “4 Pillars” quiz competition following a public controversy sparked by remarks made during the event.

The backlash centered on a specific statement made by the MC—”Perasaan Adik-adik Saja” (roughly translated as “it’s just your feeling”)—which drew criticism for its tone and delivery. In the wake of the outcry, the MC of the competition has since issued an apology for the comment.

The polemic surrounding the competition ultimately led to a formal apology from the MPR, as the institution sought to resolve the friction caused by the event’s management.

To address the situation, the MPR deactivated both the MC and the judges involved in the “4 Pillars” quiz. The move underscores the importance of maintaining a supportive and respectful environment during educational competitions aimed at youth.

Despite the administrative controversy, the competition’s academic goals remain a focus. The West Kalimantan Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud Kalbar) has proposed that SMAN 1 Pontianak compete in the national finals of the LCC 4 Pilar in Jakarta.
