Mumbai municipal elections are drawing near, and early exit polls suggest a significant victory for the ruling Mahayuti coalition led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The projections, released on January 15, 2026, indicate the alliance is poised to secure a clear majority in the 227-seat Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

According to surveys conducted by three prominent agencies, the Mahayuti coalition is expected to win between 107 and 154 seats. A majority requires 114 seats. Axis My India projects the alliance will secure 131 to 151 seats, while Janvaani Council (JVC) forecasts 138 seats. Sakal predicts 119 seats for the Mahayuti.

The exit polls suggest a more challenging outcome for the Shiv Sena, led by Uddhav Thackeray, which is projected to win between 58 and 68 seats, according to Axis My India. The Indian National Congress is expected to garner between 12 and 25 seats, based on the various surveys.
