Bob Myers Leaves ESPN for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment
Bob Myers, a prominent NBA analyst for ESPN, has departed the network to become president of the sports division at Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, it was announced today.
Myers joined ESPN in 2023, quickly becoming a key member of the “NBA Countdown” studio show and working both the past two NBA Finals for the program. He was also slated to appear on “NBA Countdown” this week leading into preseason games. His departure comes as ESPN reshapes its NBA studio coverage with the arrival of TNT-produced shows “NBA Tip-Off” and “Inside the NBA.”
ESPN producer Tim Corrigan explained that the TNT-produced studio shows will leverage ESPN’s game broadcast talent for on-site reporting. “They could be throwing to Katie George or Lisa Salters, or Malika is going to do some games reporting now,” Corrigan said in a conference call yesterday. The shift aims to integrate the networks’ coverage, particularly during the conference finals and NBA Finals, where technical collaboration will be essential. This move signals a broader strategy to unify NBA coverage across both ESPN and TNT platforms.
The “NBA Countdown” cast will now include host Malika Andrews, analysts Kendrick Perkins and Chiney Ogwumike, and newcomer Michael Malone, alongside other rotating contributors. Fans can find more information about the NBA season schedule and teams at NBA.com, and details about Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment’s portfolio here.
Officials stated that further details regarding Myers’s role and the future of “NBA Countdown” will be announced in the coming weeks.
