A newly renovated gymnasium is now open for students at Sainte-Thérèse school.
The Harricana School Service Center (CSSH) officially inaugurated the completely renovated gymnasium at Sainte-Thérèse Primary School in Amos on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. The project, which carried a price tag of $3.8 million, likewise included a full refurbishment of the locker rooms and washrooms, as well as flooring replacement on the school’s third floor.
The upgrades were deemed necessary, as the washroom facilities dated back to the school’s original construction in 1952. An expansion in 1975 added a sports block that hadn’t undergone major renovations since its creation. Planning for the project began in 2021.
“Beyond the walls and facilities, investing in our schools is investing in the well-being of students, in educational success, and in the vitality of an entire community,” stated CSSH Director General Nancy Létourneau.
The renovations extend beyond modernized sports equipment to improve the learning environment. Two large sections of the east wall are now fully glazed, and the interior walls feature wood paneling. This investment aims to provide students with a high-quality space for both athletic and academic pursuits.
