Volkswagen’s global sales success continues with updates to its popular compact SUV, the Taos. The automaker, which ranked second worldwide in vehicle sales for the recently concluded year, is refining its offerings to meet shifting consumer demands and navigate ongoing supply chain adjustments[[1]]. The 2026 Taos will arrive in showrooms with a 2% price increase next month, following a production shift from Argentina to Mexico ahead of the planned 2027 introduction of the Amarok pickup truck [[1]].
Volkswagen finished the year as the second-best-selling automaker globally, fueled by a series of launches and attractive financing options. The German manufacturer’s strong performance underscores the competitive landscape in the automotive industry and the importance of adapting to evolving consumer preferences.
Among the latest introductions is the new Volkswagen Taos, a compact SUV positioned in the C-segment. The Taos is now being imported from Mexico, following the discontinuation of production in Argentina to make way for the future Amarok, slated for release in 2027.
The new model will see a price increase of 2% in January 2026, with configurations as follows:
All three Taos trims – Comfortline, Highline, and Highline – are equipped with a 1.4 TSI engine producing 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, paired with a new 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission.
The exterior updates include the brand’s signature lighting design, a redesigned front bumper, grille, and alloy wheels. While the side profile remains consistent with the previous generation, the rear of the vehicle has been updated with new taillights, a light bar connecting them, and an illuminated rear logo.
Inside, all versions feature a configurable 10.25-inch instrument cluster with four display options, a 10-inch central multimedia system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, and four USB-C ports (two front and two rear).
Standard features also include keyless access, dual-zone climate control, and driver’s seats with electric and lumbar adjustment.
Drivers can select from four driving modes: Normal, Sport, Eco, and Individual, allowing for personalized adjustments to steering, acceleration, and climate control settings.
Safety features include six airbags (two front, two side, and two curtain) and electronic systems such as anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and a rear-view camera to assist with maneuvering and parking.
