Mexico will launch two new social programs in 2026 aimed at providing opportunities for at-risk youth, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced. The initiatives are designed to address the root causes of insecurity and bolster community support systems in areas grappling with high rates of violence.
The programs, “Jóvenes unen a México” (Youth Unite Mexico) and “Centros comunitarios de alto rendimiento: México imparable” (High-Performance Community Centers: Unstoppable Mexico), seek to expand access to educational, athletic, and cultural resources for young people. “Jóvenes unen a México” will provide monthly stipends to 20,000 young people residing in municipalities with elevated levels of violence. The program aims to steer youth away from dangerous environments by engaging them in local projects focused on social development and crime prevention.
Beneficiaries will participate in community-based initiatives, contributing to a broader strategy for public safety.
High-Performance Community Centers
The second program, “Centros comunitarios de alto rendimiento: México Imparable,” will establish 100 community sports facilities in high-violence areas. These centers will offer a range of athletic activities and draw inspiration from the work of athlete Mirna Beatriz de la Cruz Álvarez and runner Lorena Ramírez.
“Next year they are going to help us create these Community High-Performance Centers Unstoppable Mexico, which will be in different places in the republic and is inspired by this great initiative that Estrella and Lorena have promoted.”
Claudia Sheinbaum, President of Mexico
Program Launch Date
While an official start date has not yet been announced, the government confirmed that both programs are now official and will be rolled out throughout 2026.
