Nicole Kidman Joins Ensemble Cast of Osgood Perkins’ ‘The Young People’

Oscar winner Nicole Kidman has joined the cast of director Osgood Perkins’ upcoming psychological thriller, The Young People, alongside previously announced stars Lola Tung and Nico Parker.

The film, currently in production in Vancouver, also features Brendan Hines, Cush Jumbo, Heather Graham, Johnny Knoxville, Lexi Minetree, Lily Collias, and Tatiana Maslany. While specific plot details remain undisclosed, reports indicate the story centers on a shifting dynamic between school friends as one begins to exhibit concerning behavior. This project adds to a growing trend of high-profile actors appearing in independent thrillers, potentially broadening their audience reach.

Neon will handle the theatrical release in the U.S. and international sales, co-financing the project with Lyrical Media. The Young People marks the first film under a first-look deal between Neon and Perkins’ production banner, Phobos, following the success of their previous collaboration, Longlegs, which grossed $75 million domestically. Perkins’ next film, Keeper, is slated for release on November 14. Kidman recently earned the Best Actress prize at the 2024 Venice Film Festival for Babygirl and is currently in post-production on the Amazon crime series Scarpetta; she is well-known for her work in the genre, including the hit film The Others.

Production is ongoing, and Neon is representing international sales rights at the American Film Market this week, with further updates expected as the film nears completion.
