A stunning showcase of Austrian craftsmanship has arrived, beautifully captured in a new film now available on YouTube. Titled “MODE IST,” the nearly 20-minute production highlights the high-quality fashion work coming out of Lower Austria, an initiative of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce’s Fashion and Clothing Technology Association (WKNÖ). “With this film, we want to raise awareness of the high-quality fashion craftsmanship from Lower Austria,” says Andreas Anibas, the state master of the Lower Austrian Fashion and Clothing Technology Association. “Our tailors and seamstresses offer genuine and timeless craftsmanship, individually tailored to the customer, perfectly matching their personality.”

“Giving a Stage to Sustainable Fashion”

The film features creations from no fewer than 30 fashion designers. Filming took place under the motto “giving a stage to sustainable fashion” in the historic theater hall of Weitra Castle in the Waldviertel region. “MODE IST is a visual dialogue about what fashion means – and what it can become again. A film about origin, about feeling, about the craftsmanship that holds it all together,” describes Creative Director Ali Maghsood of his approach. “We want to make fashion craftsmanship from Lower Austria feel exciting, creative, and perhaps surprisingly cinematic.”

“A Statement Against Conformity and a Throwaway Society”

For State Master Anibas, the film’s creativity reflects the creativity of the Lower Austrian fashion designers. “The fashion craftsmanship in Lower Austria encompasses an incredible variety of possibilities, ideas and creations – for every customer, we are sure to have the perfect fashion designer,” emphasizes Anibas. “And at the same time, our sustainable, individually tailored and high-quality creations make a strong statement against conformity and a throwaway society.” Currently, there are 805 companies active in the clothing industry in Lower Austria, including 334 dressmakers.
