Nojima Corp. Announced on April 21, 2026, that it has agreed to acquire the home appliance business of Hitachi Global Life Solutions in a deal valued at approximately 110.1 billion yen.

The transaction, approved by Nojima’s board of directors on the same day, will see the company take an 80.1 percent stake in a newly established entity to which Hitachi will transfer its appliance operations via corporate split. Hitachi Global Life Solutions will retain a 19.9 percent share in the new venture.

As part of the broader restructuring, Hitachi will also transfer its stake in Arçelik Hitachi Home Appliances, its joint venture with Turkish appliance maker Arçelik, to the new company. This move will ultimately give the new entity full ownership of the overseas home appliance business previously operated under the Hitachi brand internationally.

Nojima said the acquisition aims to combine Hitachi’s technological expertise with its own retail and customer service strengths to enhance product development, particularly in high-value white goods such as refrigerators and washing machines. The company plans to complete the purchase by the end of the fiscal year ending March 2027.

Hitachi described the decision as a forward-looking step to sustain long-term growth in a rapidly evolving appliance market, emphasizing the importance of integrating consumer feedback from Nojima’s retail network into future product innovation.

The deal marks Nojima’s largest acquisition to date and reflects its broader strategy of leveraging direct consumer insights to drive manufacturing and product development, following its 2025 acquisition of PC maker VAIO.
