Nubia is challenging established players in the foldable phone market with the launch of its book-style device, positioning itself as a strong alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The new device is immediately notable for a standout specification: a massive 6560 mAh battery, the largest capacity yet seen in a premium foldable.
For comparison, the Honor Magic V5 offers 6100 mAh, the vivo X Fold 5 reaches 6000 mAh, while Samsung’s Z Fold 7 lags behind with 4400 mAh. Beyond battery life, the Nubia Fold also supports 55W fast charging, capable of a full recharge in approximately 70 minutes. This focus on power addresses a key concern for foldable users who often demand more from their devices.
Large Display, Top-Tier Hardware, and Solid Camera Setup
The Nubia Fold features an 8-inch (2480 × 2200 px) foldable OLED display, paired with a 6.5-inch cover screen, both boasting a 120 Hz refresh rate. However, the advanced split-view functionality, crucial for multitasking, is exclusive to the main, larger panel.
Under the hood, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage – a configuration mirroring that of other premium competitors. The camera system includes dual 50 MP lenses (main and ultra-wide), alongside a 5 MP macro lens. Both the external and internal displays feature 20 MP selfie cameras.
The phone carries an IP54 certification, providing dust and splash resistance, but falling short of full water immersion protection. This is a contrast to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, which is the first foldable to achieve an IP68 rating.
In terms of dimensions, the Nubia Fold measures 144 × 160 × 5.4 mm when unfolded, 11.1 mm when folded, and weighs 249 g. It runs Android 15 and is currently available exclusively in Japan, priced at the equivalent of $1145 USD. There is no current information regarding an international release.
