Nubia has officially entered the book-style foldable phone market with the launch of its new Nubia Fold device.
The Nubia Fold features an 8-inch internal foldable display with a resolution of 2,480×2,200 pixels, alongside a 6.5-inch external display boasting a resolution of 2,748×1,172 pixels. Both screens support a 120Hz refresh rate, and the internal display offers split-screen modes for multitasking. Foldable phones represent a growing segment of the smartphone market, as manufacturers explore new form factors and user experiences.
When unfolded, the phone measures 5.4mm in thickness, and 11.1mm when folded, with a weight of 249 grams.
Powering the Nubia Fold is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The company’s choice of processor appears to be a cost-optimization strategy, offering a competitive performance level compared to the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while remaining a powerful option.
The device runs Android 15 and supports IP54 water and dust resistance, with an Android 16 update expected in a future release.
Nubia equipped the Fold with a triple-camera system, including a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 5-megapixel macro camera. It also features dual front-facing cameras, each with 20 megapixels; one is integrated under the internal display, and the other is located on the external screen.
The Nubia Fold stands out with its large 6,560 mAh battery, supporting 55W fast charging, making it one of the more power-enduring foldable phones currently available. This substantial battery capacity addresses a key concern for users of foldable devices.
The phone is available in a single black color option and is priced at $1,150. It will initially launch in Japan, with a global rollout planned for 2026.
Nubia, known for its gaming-focused phones and premium devices, is aiming to strengthen its position in the foldable phone market, testing its capabilities amidst increasing competition in the sector.
