Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega accused US President Donald Trump of being “mentally unstable” for his military offensive against Iran, which began on February 28, 2026.
Speaking during an event in Managua broadcast by state-run media, Ortega stated: “The war being waged in the way the current US president is waging We see typical of someone who has lost their mind and thinks they can do whatever they want, any kind of cruelty.”
He added: “It’s a problem of, let’s just say, mental instability. As we say here, he’s not in his right mind.”
Ortega also criticized Trump for posting an AI-generated image on Truth Social depicting himself as Jesus Christ, questioning how many people Trump has actually healed.
The relationship between Nicaragua and the United States remains strained, with Washington labeling Ortega’s government a dictatorship and accusing its leaders of seizing total power through constitutional changes and suppressing dissent.
This exchange underscores the ongoing diplomatic tensions between Nicaragua and the United States, particularly regarding US military actions in the Middle East and their global implications.
