Outbound Launch Pushed to May 14 for Final Polish
The highly anticipated open-world exploration title Outbound will not arrive on April 23 as originally planned. Publisher Silver Lining Games and developer Square Glade Games announced on April 15, 2026, that the global release has been rescheduled for May 14, 2026.

This strategic delay comes after the recent release of a demo across multiple platforms. According to the development team, the positive reception of the demo helped identify “specific bumps on the virtual road” that require immediate attention. The decision to postpone the launch by a few weeks is intended to ensure a “bug-free experience” and a more polished, “cozy” atmosphere for all players.
“We’ve had to make the tough decision to delay Outbound to May 14th. Late in the process, an issue has been identified that could negatively impact your enjoyment of the game. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time to still guarantee a release across all platforms on the originally planned date,” the Outbound team stated in a press release.
The move highlights the challenges developers face when synchronizing a simultaneous launch across a diverse array of hardware ecosystems. Outbound is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series XS, PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), Nintendo Switch, and the Nintendo Switch 2.
As a gesture of goodwill for the delay, the developers are extending the availability of the free demo. While previously scheduled for a shorter window, the demo—currently available on PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5—will now remain accessible until May 12, 2026.
Outbound invites players to transform an empty camper van into a personalized home while exploring a colorful, near-utopian world. The game features a mix of cozy survival and exploration mechanics, allowing players to craft workstations, gather natural energy, grow crops, and customize their vehicle. The title also supports four-player online multiplayer and allows players to adopt a pet to accompany them on their journey.
For those eager to get a first look at the gameplay, a new release date trailer has been shared alongside the announcement. The final version of the game will roll out across all platforms on May 14.
