Rabat, Morocco, hosted a display of international support for the Palestinian people Saturday, as diplomats and civil society leaders convened amidst escalating conflict in the Gaza Strip. The event, held on the UN’s International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, underscores Morocco’s historic and consistent backing of the Palestinian cause, a position championed by King Mohammed VI and formalized through aid organizations like Bayt Mal Al-qods Acharif [[3]]. The gathering, featuring both political discussion and cultural performances, served as a platform to reiterate calls for humanitarian access and a lasting resolution to the ongoing crisis.

A gathering in Rabat, Morocco, on Saturday, November 25, highlighted international solidarity with the Palestinian people amid ongoing challenges in the Gaza Strip. The event, hosted at the headquarters of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), brought together diplomats, political figures, and representatives from civil society and the arts.

The meeting served as an observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, an annual event intended to reaffirm support for Palestinian rights. This year’s commemoration comes as the Gaza Strip faces a particularly difficult period, prompting calls for an end to hostilities and increased humanitarian aid.

Palestinian Ambassador to Morocco, Jamal Choubaki, praised Morocco’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, noting the leadership of King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Qods Committee. He specifically referenced a message from the King to the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, stating it “clearly reflects the Palestinian vision and program.”

Choubaki also commended the efforts of the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif agency in providing aid to the population of Gaza and supporting the resilience of the city and its residents. He urged the international community to end the current aggression, open access for humanitarian assistance, protect civilians, and bring an end to the occupation.

Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, director of Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif, reiterated King Mohammed VI’s firm backing of the Palestinian cause. He explained that this support is demonstrated through aid to Gaza and the agency’s ongoing assistance to residents of Jerusalem, acting on the King’s directives. Cherkaoui emphasized that these efforts align with Morocco’s broader diplomatic role in defending Palestinian rights on multiple fronts.

The event also featured performances by Moroccan folk troupe “Jadal” and Palestinian troupe “Asayel,” showcasing the richness of Palestinian cultural heritage. The cultural display underscored the importance of preserving Palestinian identity and traditions.

A tribute was paid to Ambassador Choubaki and the late Mohamed Benjelloun Al Andaloussi, former president of the Moroccan Association for Supporting the Palestinian People’s Struggle. The recognition acknowledged their contributions to advocating for Palestinian rights and providing support to the Palestinian people. This gesture highlights the long-standing commitment of Moroccan individuals and organizations to the Palestinian cause.
