Person Critically Injured After Being Trapped Under Metro Train in Los Angeles

A person was critically injured today after becoming trapped underneath a Metro Expo Line train in the Rancho Park area of west Los Angeles, prompting station closures and service disruptions.

Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) personnel responded to the scene at 2600 S. Westwood Blvd. at 10:28 a.m. on November 9, 2025. Firefighters successfully extricated the individual, whose age and gender have not been released, from under the train and transported them to a local hospital in at least critical condition, according to the LAFD. This incident highlights the potential dangers present around railway infrastructure, even with safety measures in place.

The Westwood/Rancho Park Station was temporarily closed following the incident, with trains turning back towards East LA at the Palms Station. Metro is currently operating a bus shuttle service between the Palms and Expo/Sepulveda stations to accommodate passengers affected by the closure.
