Polish Businesses: Report Energy Aid by June 30 to Avoid Higher Bills

Businesses and agricultural producers who received capped electricity prices in the latter half of 2024 face a fast-approaching deadline to avoid potential rebilling. Under regulations stemming from the May 2024 Act on the Energy Bonus, companies must submit documentation detailing any public aid received by June 30th. Failure to comply could result in energy suppliers recalculating bills at standard contractual rates, effectively eliminating the previously offered discounts.

Businesses and agricultural producers who benefited from capped electricity prices in the second half of 2024 must complete an important step by June 30th: submitting information regarding public aid received, or correcting any previously submitted details. Energy suppliers are warning that failure to provide the required documentation will result in rebilling – this time at contractual rates, without the preferential pricing.

  • Agricultural producers and companies that utilized maximum energy prices in the second half of 2024 must submit or amend their aid information to their energy supplier by June 30th.
  • Tauron reports that nearly 100,000 businesses have already submitted the necessary documents, with over 87% of eligible firms having filed the required declaration.
  • Failure to provide the required information will lead to a recalculation of energy bills based on the supplier’s standard contractual prices, as the maximum price was considered public or de minimis aid.

June 30th Deadline Looms for Businesses Regarding Electricity Bills

Companies that took advantage of capped electricity prices during the latter half of 2024 have an extended deadline – June 30th – to submit or correct information regarding public aid received to their energy supplier. Tauron, a major energy provider, reports that nearly 100,000 eligible businesses have already provided the necessary documentation. The company is reminding customers that failing to submit the required information will trigger a recalculation of energy bills based on standard contractual pricing.

“Businesses can quickly and easily complete the aid information form through our intuitive online portal. It takes just a few minutes and ensures they can maintain the statutory energy price for the second half of 2024,” said Daniel Iwan, a spokesperson for Tauron Sprzedaż. “Thanks to an extensive information campaign across media, email, SMS, and phone calls, over 87% of eligible firms have already submitted the required declaration. We encourage the remaining businesses to do so as soon as possible.”

Capped Energy Prices and Public Aid Regulations

The maximum energy price applied to bills from July 1st to December 31st, 2024, is classified as public or de minimis aid under current regulations. This classification triggers the reporting requirement for businesses.

All micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that benefited from the capped energy price must submit aid information to their then-current electricity supplier to maintain eligibility. This requirement stems from the May 2024 Act on the Energy Bonus and amendments to regulations aimed at limiting the prices of electricity, natural gas, and district heating.

How to Submit Aid Information

The aid information must be submitted using a form published in the Public Information Bulletin.

  • Businesses can submit the information through the following methods:
  • An electronic form
  • Mail to: TAURON Obsługa Klienta sp. z o.o., ul. Lwowska 23, 40-389 Katowice (date of dispatch applies)
  • In-person visit to a customer service point.
